This is the day that started our family. The marriage of my parents. 7 blessings followed and then history. Now they have 16 grandchildren.

A PHOTOSHOOT

My friend Mich is working on Ice Monster Desserts and they planned to renovate their website because it hasn't been updated for a long time now. They need to do a lot of food shots for the website in order to update some new products.

Their photographer suggested to have some people shots with the ice cream preferably some kids eating Ice Monster. The owner of this company suggested his nephews in order to cut costs. Mich on the other hand suggested my daughter Emily to be included also and her boss said OK.

So after a few days of some planning, the photo shoot were scheduled and Mich helped me to find the clothes that Emily will wear during the photo shoot. It will be held at the Enchanted Kingdom in Sta. Rosa Laguna a well-known theme park here in the Philippines. We get to go there for free but not allowed to go on any rides.

We were already at the location at exactly 12NN. Emily was a little exhausted from our trip (Sta. Rosa is 1 hour drive from our home and the weather is so hot here. When we arrived, Mich served us 7 cups of different flavors from Ice Monster! Emily liked the chocolate flavor, I got my favorite Choco-Mango Ice and my niece Tin got the cookies and cream. There were also the strawberry ice that looks good and yummy but i'm not a fan of strawberries so I didn't touch it.

While we were eating these yummy Ice Cream, Richard Tuazon my male BFF, (remember him from my previous post?)is already taking shots of Emily while eating her Ice Cream.

On the set, when they were about to shoot, Emily felt tired. Maybe because of the hot weather and the fact that she is already full which made her feel sleepy. She dont want to follow instructions at all and all she did is just wipe her eyes and never smiled at the camera. I pulled Emily out of that table, embraced her and told her that she did a good job and its ok to get tired.

So she rested for a while and watched the other kids while they were taking their shots. We stayed inside Ice Monster for that whole day and Emily just keep on playing in and outside the store while Mich and the photographers were finishing their job.

This is one memory I will never forget, Emilys first photo shoot (without any audition haha!). I get to help my friend Richard to polish his skills more in his new found passion in photography, I get to meet Raymond (he's the proffesional photographer on this project). Also, this is the first time I see my friend Mich work.

I thought there wont be an approved shot of Emily because of her tantrum that day but luckily, the owner Mr. Gary Chan found one on Richards folder. This shot is taken when we just arrived and ate that first batch of Ice Cream! Emily wasnt wearing her best dress yet. The good thing about this picture is that it looked natural that Emily is actually eating and enjoying her Ice Cream (even though she is eating "champola" on his shot).

This is Emilys photo to be shown in Ice Monster Website and will be printed for a couple of Ice Monster Branches.
Thank You Richard for this wonderful wonderful shot!
Thank You Mr. Gary Chan and Mich for this opportunity.
Thank You Thank You Thank You!!!

Here are some behind the scenes shot on that day

First Time the Pinay Mom entered a Blog Contest

This is my first time to enter a blog contest and it is from Karen lisa's website Bright Autumn Sun. I can get to win a beautiful Swarovski crystal heart charm from AJ Design Jewelry.

It is only for US and Canada residents and I am based here in the Philippines but there is someone special in my life that is living in the US whose having a birthday this coming month. This charm is a perfect gift for her. So I asked Karen if I can join and will give a US address if ever I won. She said yes and now my fingers are shaking, praying to win this charm and make this someone special happy on her birthday. Sorry I cant name this someone special yet because she might read my blog and she doesn't know any of this plan of mine.

Joining a blog contest is somehow exciting. Its like doing everything the host want you to do online in order to earn points for more chances of winning. Actually this blog is a part of it and I can get three points through this. Tweeting about this is one point and a lot more task to earn points just visit Karen's page anyway and join. And AJ Designs are so cool! Those jewelries makes me drool! Go check it out and see what I mean.

A lot of great speakers were on the line including my co club member Mr. Manuel Viloria and a lot of "internet celebrities" here in the Philippines.

Its a two-day event. The first day topics were mostly for entrepreneurs about how they can maximize the power of internet in reaching their customers and targeting their sales and the second day mainly for new bloggers like me.

First posterous blog of the PinayMom

Hi!
Woah! This is really cool! I feel like i'm just sending an email and not just blogging at all. Well, Hello there guys! This is the Pinay Mom from the Philippines. Testing posterous. First time to send an email to post.

I only use posterous for my private files. And since my mentor Jomar Hilario and Manuel Viloria told me about the power of posterous blogs in search engines so i decided to send this email/blog and try this posterous out.
You can find my main website at http://pinaymomjournal.com where I share some thoughts about everything under the sun in a Filipina moms view. I also have another website the http://galingngpinoy.com which features Filipinos with great talents and achievements both in local and international. My third website is about internet marketing the http://businessopportunityonlinemanila.blogspot.com which is harder for me to maintain because I was just sharing my views on how to earn online. I am also experiencing some domain name problem with my third site so.. yeah, pretty much waste if you visit it now.
I really look forward to posting more of email/blog on my posterous. It feels good that I tried this one out. I need to research more about this though. I have a lot of questions like Can I put my Adsense on it? Can I monetize this? Can I do some linking? etc...
Anyway If you also have some questions, you may send me an email at pinaymom@pinaymomjournal.com and I'll try to answer it the best way I can.
So much for my first post.. Be back on the next post.. maybe tomorrow...
Ciao!
PinayMom

SONY HDR-CX110

"What my husband wants, my husband gets"

This is what is always in my mind recently. Yesterday he bought a Sony Handycam Flash Memory HD Camcorder - Red (HDRCX110/R) at the Robinsons Place Manila.

If you could still remember from my previous blogs where I told you that we sold our Nikon D5000 12.3 MP DX Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR Lens and 2.7-inch Vari-angle LCD
which we just bought last December 2009. Well we sold it mainly because of its heavy weight and we need some handy camera that we can easily carry everywhere we go, and that we cannot maximize the features because we dont know how and non of us would want to know. Haha! Lazy stubborn couple!

So now, after a few weeks, he thought of getting a handycam instead because he wants to cover videos than taking pictures which is different from what I like. I may not be good in photography but I'd rather smile in a picture than say Hi in a video.

I haven't read the manual of this new handycam yet but I noticed that everything is automatic. It automatically changes it scenes, automatically takes pictures whenever it detects some tooth whether you are smiling or not.

I chose the red color and I dont know why and what I liked about it is that its so light and small. SD memory cards and Memory stick pro duo can be used as its storage.

He also bought some accessories like the handycam bag and a cleaning set.

And since we have this new handy dandy camera, I am now thinking of having a video blog though I still have to overcome this feeling of shyness towards a videocam.

Here are some of the pictures taken from this new member of our cabinet. Lol!

This is me. The Husband took this one.

Hello Everyone! - Ashly

My Emily

Me again. Testing the automatic smile capture feature. I got a lot of these because I smiled a lot in this camera. This is just one of the hundred shots. Lol!

BLOGS TARGETS OF LIBEL SUITS, REGULATION

Many people had dismissed the then still toddler blogosphere as only the domain of socially challenged geeks locked up in a dark basement behind a battery of computers. But in 2005, administration allies, battered on all sides by the ‘Hello Garci’ scandal, thought it prudent to drag the geeks out of the basement and hale them to court.

The first libel suit against a Philippine blog was filed in August that year against the institutional blog of the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism (PCIJ) by Jonathan Tiongco, a sound engineer presented by then environment and natural resources secretary Mike Defensor in order to question the authenticity of the ‘Hello Garci’ tapes.

In all, Tiongco and his wife Rona would file at least six libel suits against the PCIJ, as well as one case for sedition, all related to the posting by the PCIJ of the ‘Hello Garci’ audio recordings in its institutional blog. In October that year, the Supreme Court threw out Tiongco’s petition to take down the recordings. The high tribunal said the constitutional right to free expression was paramount, even if it was just in a blog. The court also told Tiongco to seek legal counsel before bringing legal issues to the high court.
The battle won, but the war far from over, a Quezon City court under Judge Ralph Lee later that year issued a 20-day temporary restraining order against the PCIJ blog post on Tiongco’s background. As a result, that post was taken down for that period of time. It was also the first time that a Philippine court had taken action against a blog.

Still unsatisfied, Tiongco and three Quezon City policemen attempted to secure a search warrant against the PCIJ offices in Quezon City in March 2006. Tiongco and his group tried to get warrants from two courts, to no avail.

Not to be outdone, then justice secretary Raul Gonzalez declared that the PCIJ was being monitored for what he termed as “Illegal posting of wiretapped material" that tends to “incite to sedition."
Five years later, the “geeks" were still on top; the cases against the PCIJ never prospered, and the ‘Hello Garci’ recordings are still online.

But while the Philippines is still known for having the freest press in Asia, the newest medium of expression – the Internet – is no longer immune from attempts to regulate and control it.
Just this year, then social welfare secretary Esperanze Cabral filed a libel suit against a blogger named Ella Rose de los Santos for a blog entry that was severely critical of the way her department distributed relief goods after Typhoon Ondoy.

Ella’s blog October 21 2009 entry, entitled “Aanhin pa ang damo kung patay na ang kabayo," immediately went viral as interest over Typhoon Ondoy and its aftermath peaked. Most of the online community hailed the entry as an example of citizen journalism, while its detractors decried it as more emotional than factual.
And there have been other cases as well. In 2006, for example, the Yuchengco group filed a libel case against the Parents Enabling Parents (PEP) Coalition, citing what it called defamatory articles accusing the company of mishandling of funds. The articles were posted in the PEP Coalition blog. It was later dismissed by a Makati court.

Another prominent libel case involved technology blogger Abe Olandres, who attracted the suit not because of his blog, but because of his web-hosting company. Several libelous comments were posted in the Internet forum GreedyOldDumbass.com, which happened to be hosted on his server. The suit against Olandres was also dismissed after he was determined to be a mere service provider.

And who could forget the libel case against Bambee de la Paz, who blogged about the “Valley Golf Incident" that had her father Delfin and younger brother Bino in a brawl with a group led by Agrarian Reform Secretary Nasser Pangandaman Sr. and his sons. The Pangandamans later challenged De la Paz’s account in court. Pangandaman’s lawyers say the case is still pending.

Attempts to regulate the online community, however, have not all been done through the courts. In 2007, the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) announced it was drafting a memorandum circular that, in effect, would require licenses from everyone who is part of any social networking site.

The draft memorandum circular required all “contents, information, applications and/or electronic games providers" of telecommunications facilities and services to secure a license from the NTC for P6,300, subject to renewal.

The memorandum defined content as “all types of contents delivered to/accessed by the users/subscribers such as music, ring tones, logos, video clips, etc."

The NTC argued that the Internet was covered by the memorandum as part of telecommunications facilities, thereby turning all members of social media networks and virtually anyone who uploads anything on the Net into a “content provider."

These days, that would mean requiring licenses from more than 11 million Facebook users in the Philippines, and 35 million Friendster account holders. That’s not yet counting other networking sites that enable members to upload video, photos, or plain text, such as YouTube, Flickr, and Multiply.

That could well be why the proposal seems to have died a natural death or relegated to limbo. Yet while nothing has been heard about it in the last three years, it might just – like Luke Skywalker's father did – resurface and give everyone a shock. – PCIJ, April 2010, HGS, GMANews.TV

ONE SHORT HOT VACATION

We had a 2 day vacation this holy weekend. We left Manila Friday afternoon, going to visit my husband relatives in Angat, Bulacan. The weather was so hot here and I dont know how Ashly made it. She just slept the whole 1 and a half hour drive.

We are packed with 4 big bags, a pillow, a comforter, a laptop, my father-in-laws digital camera, lots of water, 1 teddy bear, and a can of milk.

Here is our photos taken inside our Owner type Jeep while on the road..

El Nińo. Super DRY Land

When we arrived in Taboc, We First visit Ninong Gerald and Ninang Carol of Emily. We had Halohalo there, just right for the hot weather. Then we went to visit Mariz and Tita Joving, they had two cute little shih tzus. Then to tita Nelias house before we got to go to Ogies house where we stayed the night.

The next morning (Saturday), I went visit Tita Digna and Tito Celso. She is cooking "Tinumis na Kalabaw" I ate a bowl! So delicious! (Sorry for non-Filipino readers, I dont know the translation of Tinumis na Kalabaw but Kalabas is a Carabao, so yeah, we ate carabao meat.) I just forgot to bring my camera so I dont have a picture for you of what it looked like.

On that evening, we went to the Calderon Family. Ogie invited us because they had some family gathering over there and her Aunts cooked Goat Afritada. This is my first time to eat goat meat. And here is the picture of it..

The next morning is Sunday, the Easter Sunday where I had a great morning with Ashly. See the Previous post for the video and more details..

Tita Digna cooked "Batchoy" for our lunch and here is the picture of it. For those who are asking for the ingredients and recipe of these, Im sorry, Im not good in cooking and I dont know how to do this.. I only know how to eat.. and Im good at it! haha!

Here is emily on Ninong Izels Big BIKE!

I must say I had a wonderful weekend. Being in a place away from Manila for some time is enough for a vacation. I wasnt even able to use my laptop to blog because we are always tired and
i have no time to blog about it. Its so nice to see them again. I get to be with people close to my husband and Its a great time for us to bond during this season.

A HAPPY EASTER MORNING!

Happy Easter to all of you!

I had a great morning today. Seeing Ashly smiling many times is so heart melting. I love it when she smiles because her dimples are showing up and it is sooo cute!!!

Ashly is such a very crybaby, she cries a lot during midnight until about 2am before she could get that deep sleep. So I am always tired and exhausted when I go to bed because of her crying. so But all of these "sufferings" were gone during the next morning when she woke up smiling, and cooing with me. Here is her video taken just this morning...

DOT COM BABY!

Time Out on featuring Filipinos for this post. I haven't been in this blog for a while. I've been busy with some personal things. But enough of these excuses as if it matters anyway.

Well, if you were my reader before, you will notice now that this has been galingngpinoy.com already from its previous address of anggalingngpinoy.blogspot.com.I am making my blogs a dot com one by one... This was supposed to be "anggalingngpinoy.com" but unfortunately that domain name wasn't available anymore so. Thanks to my mentor Mr Jomar Hilario and co-club member Mr. Manuel Viloria for helping me decide which domain is best for this blog.

I've been also surfing a lot lately than blogging because I am searching for Filipinos online that I can feature here. I have found a few and will research more of them. Of course I will let them know that I will feature them here so I could get more informations about them.

I'm excited to raise the Filipino Flag through this blog and I hope someone out there can help me out on creating some graphics relating to my topics for this website (for FREE!) ^_^
